SUSTAINABILITY
We believe making a better rug means considering more than how it looks beneath a pool table. Product quality, responsible manufacturing and what happens at the end of a rug’s useful life all matter.
Because we do not manufacture our rugs ourselves, our role is to work with manufacturing partners whose environmental commitments align with our own, and to give our customers clear, honest information about those efforts.
Learn more about the responsible manufacturing initiatives behind our EnduraStran® rugs, their long-lasting construction and the recycling program available when your rug’s time in the game room comes to an end.
ENDURASTRAN
RESPONSIBLE MANUFACTURING
Our EnduraStran® rugs are produced using materials and manufacturing processes developed by Milliken, a company whose sustainability program supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including:
- Affordable and Clean Energy
- Clean Water and Sanitation
- Sustainable Cities and Communities
- Responsible Consumption and Production
- Climate Action
Milliken’s environmental initiatives have focused on reducing greenhouse-gas emissions, water use and solid waste; expanding renewable-energy use; diverting waste from landfills; and maintaining responsible environmental practices.
For current goals, progress and reporting, visit the Milliken Sustainability website.
MADE FOR THE LONG HAUL
One of the simplest ways to reduce waste is to make products that do not need to be replaced constantly.
EnduraStran rugs are constructed from durable nylon fibers selected for their resistance to wear, staining and soiling. With proper care, they are designed to remain part of your space through plenty of game nights, movie marathons and furniture rearrangements.
A PRACTICE, NOT A PERFECT LABEL
Sustainability is ongoing work, not a magic word we stamp onto a product. We’ll continue looking for durable products, responsible partners and practical ways to help keep rugs in use—and out of landfills—for as long as possible.
WHEN YOU’RE READY TO PART WAYS
An EnduraStran rug may outlast your current room or your current décor. When you no longer want it, landfill does not have to be its next stop.
EnduraStran has partnered with Cycle-Tex to provide a recycling option for qualifying EnduraStran area rugs (read more on that below).
HOW TO RECYCLE AN ENDURASTRAN RUG
- Clean the rug and remove any loose dirt or debris.
- Roll it tightly.
- Wrap it in a sturdy plastic bag or other protective material.
- Secure the roll with tape, twine or straps.
- Complete and attach the EnduraStran recycling form.
- Ship the rug to the Cycle-Tex address listed on the form and retain your tracking information.

This recycling program applies specifically to eligible EnduraStran rugs. Recycling options for other products may vary according to their materials and manufacturer.
TARKETT
A CIRCULAR APPROACH
Tarkett builds its sustainability work around a simple idea: flooring shouldn't be a one-way trip. Products are designed so they can be taken back at the end of their life, broken down into their components, and used again as raw material.
That thinking starts in the fiber. Lextron™ Enviro-Green is 100% solution dyed, made with 10% pre-consumer recycled content, and recyclable once the carpet's life cycle is complete. Across the company, Tarkett has set goals to keep increasing the share of recycled material going into new products.
For current targets, progress and reporting, visit the Tarkett sustainability website.
DURABILITY IS THE FIRST GREEN FEATURE
The rug that never needs replacing is the one that never hits a landfill.
Lextron Enviro-Green is spun with a higher twist level than industry standards, which is a big part of why it lasts. It's fade resistant and stain resistant, and it was engineered for hotel lobbies and hospitality spaces that see more traffic in a month than most homes see in a year. Put that in a rec room and you've bought yourself a long relationship.
WE'RE NOT GOING TO OVERSELL THIS
Nobody makes a rug out of thin air. Manufacturing uses energy, water and material, and no amount of marketing changes that.
What we can do is choose partners who take the problem seriously, pick products built to last, and point you toward a better ending than the curb. That's the honest version, and it's the one we'd rather tell.
THE NUMBERS WORTH KNOWING
The EPA has reported that less than 10% of carpets and rugs made in the U.S. get recycled, while more than 70% go to a landfill.
Tarkett's ReStart® program exists to move that number. Since 2010 it has collected more than 124,000 tons of flooring worldwide, and it takes soft surface and resilient flooring from any manufacturer, not only Tarkett's own. Recovered flooring gets separated into fiber, backing and underlayment so each piece can go back to work.
HOW TO RECYCLE A TARKETT RUG
ReStart was built around commercial projects, where crews pull flooring from a building and Tarkett hauls it off by the pallet. A single rug from a basement is a different situation. If you're ready to part ways with yours, get in touch and we'll help you sort out what's available, or contact Tarkett's ReStart team directly at ReStart.TNA@tarkett.com.
Recycling options vary by material and manufacturer.
